LOGAN TWP. — A resident of the Logan Woods development told police his home was burglarized between Dec. 20 and 22, with entry made through an unsecured rear door. Stolen from the house were a Smith & Wesson .38, a Smith & Wesson .357 and a Smith & Wesson 9mm, a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, an Ithaca 12-gauge shotgun, several gun cases and prescription medication.
In other news:
— On Dec. 15, police charged a 26-year-old Salem man with shoplifting $275 worth of detergent from the Acme. Bail was set at $7,500, but service of the complaint is still pending.
— On Dec. 16, investigating a report of an armed man at the Holiday Inn, officers charged a 48-year-old Midlothian, Va. man with unlawful possession of a weapon after spotting the man with a bulge in the small of his back. After seizing the loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun and serving the man with a complaint summons, he was released pending a court appearance.
— On Dec. 18, officers investigated the theft of 37 aluminum poles from a business on Pedricktown Road. The poles are valued at $1,200.
— Police investigated a shoplifting on Dec. 20 at the Acme, during which a Logan Township man allegedly left without paying for unspecified items. Restitution was made in lieu of complaints being signed, and the man is not permitted in the supermarket again.
— On Dec. 21, officers charged a 32-year-old Logan Township man with theft, following an incident on Paulsboro Road in which a debit card was stolen from a relative. The accused fled on foot when he was approached by officers and was found hiding under a nearby deck. He was also wanted by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and had additional outstanding warrants. He was committed to the Salem County Jail.
— On Dec. 21, a 21-year-old Logan Township man was charged with criminal trespass and theft following an investigation at a Sharptown Road business. The man allegedly admitted to stealing several thousand dollar’s worth of railroad spikes and rail joints, which was caught on surveillance video. A portion of the stolen property was returned. The man was served with complaint summonses and released.
