HARRISON TWP. — Officers were dispatched to the RiteAid store at 108 Swedesboro Road on Tuesday for a shoplifting complaint.

The store manager confronted a female in the store who allegedly tried to shoplift $12.99 worth of skin care products, police said. The woman surrendered the merchandise to the manager but ran out of the store, said police.

The manager chased the 48-year-old Paulsboro woman to the rear of the nearby Amish Market, where he stood by with her until officers arrived, police said. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was charged with shoplifting. She was also a fugitive from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office for shoplifting.

She was committed to the Salem County Jail on the basis of the GCPO warrant.

Sgt. Andrew Thomas handled the investigation.
