WOODBURY —The Woodbury Public Library is having a celebration of all that is Star Wars at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11.

All ages are welcome to make Star Wars crafts, munch on some Star Wars themed treats and even join the Sketch Club Players for their re-enactment of "Shakespeare's Star Wars."

WOODBURY — Gloucester County and three of its municipalities will receive a total of $385,000 in grant funding from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.

The grants, of federal and state funds, were part of the DVRPC’s Transportation and Community Development Initiative, aimed at coordinating local transportation improvements with land-use planning.

GREENWICH TWP. — At 4:30 a.m. Friday, two women knocked on the door of a house on Rambo Avenue and told the resident they’d been hurt.

The woman said they’d been in a fight and needed help. The resident could plainly see the women had injuries and were bleeding, police said.

PAULSBORO — The Borough of Paulsboro will be performing Street Sweeping, borough-wide, during the month of October as follows;

During the week of October 1st – October 7th, the streets located between Rt. 295 and Broad Street are scheduled to be swept.

MONROE TWP. — A security video of two people suspected of stealing Apple iPads from a Walmart store has led to the arrest of one of them.
Monroe Township police posted the video on social media sites, showing the man and woman leaving the store in the 1800 block of the Black Horse Pike on Sept. 24.

GLASSBORO — The Gloucester County Veterans Affairs Office regularly has volunteer  Veteran Service Officers unhand to help hook veterans up with service-connected claims, such as widow’s benefits, things that have togo to the federal VA.

Unfortunately, the VSOs are at the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.,  and the day’s last appointments are generally made for 3 p.m.

WOODBURY — With an autumn chill in the air — that caused specators and  even a couple of participants to burrow under blankets — the Woodbury Fall Festival Parade celebrated all kinds of history Saturday.

From old tractors to elaborate dance routines featuring "Grease" and "The Big Bang Theory," the parade stretched from Colonial Avenue south to Salem Avenue from about 6:30 to 9 p.m.

 

WOODBURY — Stanley A. Betters Jr., 28, of Woodbury, and Maquan M. Wright, 22,  of West Deptford, were indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury the week of Sept. 29 on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary, theft, criminal restraint, aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes in West Deptford on June 5, 2013.

According to published reports, they were both charged with breaking into the home of a 70-year-old man, assaulting him and robbing him, police said.
