CLAYTON — An employee of a construction contractor has been charged with illegal dumping in Gloucester County’s Scotland Run Park.

David H. Walters Jr., 48, of Gloucester City, was charged Dec. 3 under the state’s Disposal and Transportation of Solid Waste statute, authorities said.

Walters worked for LAB Builders, in Monroe Township. The owner of the company is believed to have been unaware of the dumping of trash from a Camden County work site and has offered to clean up the trash, none of which is hazardous.

The investigation, under the direction of Officer in Charge Sgt. Ron Koller, was launched the week of Nov. 17 after several complaints were received of the dumping.

Construction debris from a house renovation project was found in several piles in the park, said authorities.

Bail was set at $7,500, but Walters has not yet been arrested.
