GREENWICH TWP. — A 72-year-old man on the lookout for crime was arrested on weapons charges after displaying what appeared to be a weapon to four women passing out political literature Monday night.
The four women, all Rowan University students, were approached on South Home Avenue by Richard Lightcap, said police.
Lightcap told the woman there have been drugs and burglaries on the street and that he was ready to deal with that, police said. He was holding what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun, said police.
The pistol was a replica, with the required orange-colored safety tip painted black, police said.
Lightcap was charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct, said police. He was released after posting 10 percent of $20,000 bail, police said.
The case was investigated by Detective Louis Damminger.
