WOODBURY —A special presentation on ‘Diet for a Healthy Heart’ will be given at three of Gloucester County’s nutrition sites during the month of February.
The presentation by the county health department’s Dietician Kathleen Mahmoud will focus on the latest guidelines from the American Heart Association. A nurse will also be at the nutrition sites on the day of
the presentation to offer free blood pressure screening.
“Our nutrition sites are more than just a place where a senior citizen can go to get a nutritious hot meal, it is a place where they can meet with their peers, socialize and get information on how to stay healthy and active,” said Freeholder Adam J. Taliaferro, liaison to the county’s Division of Senior Services.
Any county resident 60 years of age and older can attend a nutrition site. A donation of $1.25 a meal is asked, but no one is turned down for their ability to pay.
The dates and sites for the Valentine Day ‘Healthy Heart’ presentations are:
Tuesday, Feb. 10, 10:30 a.m., Pfeiffer Community Center in Williamstown, 301 Blue Bell Street, Williamstown.
Thursday, Feb. 12, 10:30 a.m., Thorofare Fire Hall in Thorofare Fire Hall, 1 Fire House Road, West Deptford.
