WASHINGTON TWP. — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a 2002 Chevrolet Venture on the Black Horse Pike/Route 42 near Watson Drive Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at about 10:27 p..m. when the pedestrian stepped off a curb into the travel lane and was hit by the southbound Chevrolet driven by a Williamstown resident, police said.
The pedestrian, John M. Thurwanger, 34, of Sewell, died at the scene. The driver, Mary K. Brooks, 52, was not injured, police said.
The Black Horse Pike was closed for abut 2.5 hours for a preliminary investigation.
