WOODBURY — Gregory Grant, 59, of Gloucester City, pleaded guilty Monday to sexually assaulting two girls und,er 13 in separate incidents while he was living with a relative in Washington Township.
Each incident involved improper touching; one in the 2006 - 2008 time period and the other in the 2010-2011 time period, according to Grant’s plea. The victims disclosed what had happened about three weeks apart in the summer of 2013, at which time Washington Township police and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation, authorities said.
Grant, a dockworker, was arrested on July 23, 2013 and has been jailed since in default of $150,000 bail, said authorities.
In the plea agreement, Senior Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Paul Colangelo will recommend that Grant be sentenced to two consecutive five-year New Jersey state prison sentences, requiring him to serve 85 percent of the time before he is eligible for parole. Upon release, he will be subject to conditions of Megan’s Law for sex offenders and parole supervision for at least 15 years. A condition of parole will be no contact with the victims.
Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson scheduled sentencing for May 15, allowing time for Grant to be evaluated at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a state facility for sex offenders in Avenel.
If the center finds him to be a repetitive and compulsive offender, he may be sentenced to treatment there and could also be civilly committed to confinement there beyond the sentence he receives.
