PAULSBORO — The Fugitive Investigations Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office has arrested a Paulsboro man facing five years in prison on a weapons offense and a Paulsboro woman who missed her sentencing to probation for credit card theft.
John C. Johnson, 33, was taken into custody without incident in a West Washington Street apartment in Paulsboro on April 9 on a warrant when he failed to appear for sentencing on Jan. 16.
Johnson pleaded guilty Oct. 20 to a charge of second-degree possession of a weapon by a convicted person, acknowledging he had a .38-caliber handgun in Paulsboro on May 13, 2012 when he was prohibited from having a gun because of prior narcotics convictions. He is to be sentenced to five years in state prison.
Assisting in the arrest were officers of the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force and the Paulsboro Police Department. Johnson was turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and is being held without bail.
Arrested the same day at 21 E. Adams St. in Paulsboro was Michelle D. Witcher, 33. She had pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to credit card theft in Paulsboro and was to be sentenced to probation on Jan. 16. A bench warrant for her arrest was issued when she did not appear for sentencing. Following her arrest, she was turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and is being held without bail.
