GLASSBORO — Police here recognized some valuable participants in the Glassboro K-9 Unit Tuesday night.
Sgt. Daniel Eliason, who heads the unit, and Sgt. Ryan Knight, introduced the borough council to Chuck Williams and his dog, Jesse, and Steve Cavallaro and his dog, Obo. Both teams have undergone training at the Philadelphia Police K-9 Academy and most recently finished narcotics detection training, Eliason said.
Unit thanks and recognition went to Rolling Badges Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and the 4Heroes Charity, which were instrumental in obtaining Jesse and in outfitting both animals in bullet-and-knife-resistant vests, said Eliason.
Thanks also went to the Seeing Eye organization. In some cases, dogs donated to Seeing Eye do not have the temperament to become service dogs, and are, in turn, donated to become K-9 animals. Jesse was just such a dog.
The unit also thanks the Associated Humane Societies, for its aid in getting vests for both dogs.
