WASHINGTON TWP. — A Clementon man was arrested after he allegedly left a loaded handgun in the trunk of a rental car.
On May 18, Tyrone Ware, 48, returned a rental vehicle to Enterprise in the 4300 block of the Black Horse Pike, police said.
Shortly after returning the car, Ware called Enterprise and said he’d left an item in the trunk of the car, said police. An Enterprise employee found in the trunk a loaded .40-caliber handgun, police said. The employee notified police immediately.
Ware was arrested at 6:35 a.m. Thursday at his home on the White Horse Pike by Washington Township police officers and members of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Investigations Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Service Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Ware was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and certain persons prohibited from possessing a firearm, said police.
When he was arrested, Ware allegedly had crack cocaine on him and he was additionally charged with possession of crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine, police said.
He was lodged in the Salem County Jail in default of $25,000 bail.
