The borough of Clayton and Deptford Township have been given funding to purchase new passenger buses.
The buses, a 50-percent dollar match with the municipalities, are funded through the county’s Capital Transit Investment Plan. Gloucester Count funded $34,345 each for the buses, with Clayton and Deptford each fund the remaining half for their bus.
The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders instituted the CTIP in 1992 specifically to assist municipalities with the purchase of new buses. The CTIP provides county funds to towns for the purpose of providing transportation to senior citizens, people with disabilities and the general public.
Each vehicle is a 22-passenger bus with two wheelchair slots and a rear wheelchair lift. Rohrer Bus Co. is assembling the buses.
