UPPER DEERFIELD TWP. — Four people, three of them from Gloucester County, have been charged in connectinwith a burglary in Upper Deerfield on Sept. 15, according to the Courier-Post.

At about 5 a.m. that day, a Husted Station Road resident told New Jersey State Police someone was in her garage.Troopers arrived and found two men had fled.

A man who was convicted of touching a 12-year-old girl in his former Woodury Heights apartment will stay in prison.

A state appeals court Monday upheld the Sept. 20, 2012 conviction of Victor E. Albarracin, 35, of Pennsauken. He was sentenced to serve seven years in a state prison, authorities said.

Albarracin was convicted of a sexual assault that happened on July 10, 2007, said authorities.

Bill Donovan talks about how the weather monitors will be used. WOODBURY — The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the funding of $150,000 for weather monitoring stations that will be able to track the direction of toxic gas released from railroad accidents, such as the vinyl chloride leak in Paulsboro in November 2012.

Knowing which way the wind is blowing, and how fast, could be crituical if a gas cloud formed over a populated area, according to the GCPO critical infrastructure coordinator Bill Donovan, who spoke at a meeting Sept. 17.

WEST DEPTFORD TWP.  — When the U.S. Marshal’s Service agents went to serve a warrant on William Schickel for violation of probation, they positioned agents in the front and rear of the townhouse at 1083 Buckingham Drive.

It was 1:20 p.m. when a marshal, acting on a tip that Schickel, 24, was staying at this residence, knocked on the door, police said. The marshal asked the residents to come out and they told him Schickel, who lives in the White Swan trailer park on Mantua Grove Road, was in the basement.

A female red-tailed hawk that had suffered a wing fracture was released Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 after being rehabilitated at the Woodford Cedar Run Nature Center in Medford, NJ. Executive Director Jeanne Gural released the hawk in a back yard in Pitman — the same yard from which it had been rescued.

DEPTFORD TWP. — The Gloucester County Art League opened an exhibit in the Galleria Deptford on Sunday afternoon, with a public reception, music and refreshments to welcome a show that will  continue into  November.

It’s surprising, how much art can be displayed in first and second floor hallways of the township building.

HARRISON TWP. — The Annual Veterans’ Picnic will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at the 4-H Fairgrounds.

This year, the picnic will feature a special “thank you” for all Vietnam vets, who will receive special recognition and a heartfelt “Welcome Home.”

The free picnic is open to everyone, not only veterans.
