FRANKLIN TWP. — Four people were injured in a crash at Main and Garden roads Sunday.

At about 11:11 a.m., George D. Cathie Jr., of Sicklerville, was driving a 2000 Toyota Celica north on Main Road when he crossed over into the southbound lane for an unknown reason, said police.

A witness reported seeing the Celica hit a guardrail on the southbound shoulder, then continue to hit a southbound 2013 Hyundai Genesis head-on, police said. The driver of the Hyundai was Sheldon Schulman, also of Sicklerville, said police.

Cathie was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in MediVac 5 and is listed as being in critical condition, police said.

Sheldon and two passengers in his car were transported by ground to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, said police.

Assisting at the scene were Vineland police, Inspira Paramedics, Forest Grove and Vineland fire departments and Vineland EMS, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Ptl. Anthony Rojas.

WOODBURY HEIGHTS — Fire destroyed a home on Barlow Avenue and sent two people to the hospital Friday afternoon.

It was shortly before 5 p.m. when flames broke out, authorities said. First responders found flames burning through the roof, authorities said.

Two residents were transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Several cats were rescued from the fire.

WASHINGTON TWP. — A Laurel Springs woman has been charged with burglary and theft in connection with a Jan. 20 residential burglary.

Forced entry was made to the home on Oxford Drive and a diamond ring valued at $1,000 was stolen, police said. Before the woman could flee, though, she was confronted by the victim, said police. There was no physical confrontation and the burglar ran from the house, police said.

Ptl. Steven Pinnelli and Detective Michael Ferris were able to collect physical evidence that led to the arrest on March 3 of Jessica Gosson, 23.

WOODBURY — The Fugitive Investigations Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office this week arrested three people who failed to make scheduled court appearances on burglary and other charges.

Arrested March 10 at his North Delsea Drive residence in Clayton was Charles R. Hopkins, 29.  An arrest warrant was issued for Hopkins when he did not appear in Superior Court on Feb. 23 for a status conference on a charge of burglary of a residence in Williamstown on Aug. 30.

WASHINGTON TWP. — A 57-year-old Salina Road man was arrested March 10 in connection with the theft of a cash register from a pizza shop four days earlier.

On March 6, someone forced his way into the rear of Croce Pizza, in the 100 block of Fries Mill Road, police said. The man stole the business’ cash register and fled, said police.

Thanks to physical evidence gathered at the scene, patrol and investigative officers identified Joseph Elder as the suspect, police said.

Elder was arrested March 10 without incident by police and members of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Investigations Unit, said police.

Elder was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief and committed to the Salem County Jail in default of $25,000 full-cash bail, police said.

WOODBURY — Bail remained at $100,000 Friday for James Cole, 61, of Camden, on charges of sexually assaulting a child in Glassboro in January 2012.

Cole’s lawyer asked for a reduction to $50,000, saying there was “limited information” on the allegations, which the attorney said had been made by an ex-girlfriend and were three years old. “I’m not sure how strong the proofs are,”  Cole’s lawyer said.

Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Dana Anton said her office “absolutely objects” to lower bail, stressing the complainant in the case was the State of New Jersey, not the former girlfriend. The case involves improper touching of an 8-year-old child and a sister of the victim was a witness, Anton said. Cole made a “full admission” of the offense, she said.

The charge preceded Cole’s current probation on a plea to theft by deception for failing to disclose he was receiving benefits form the Gloucester County Board of Social Services and the U.S. Veteran’s Administration simultaneously.

In denying the bail request, Superior Court Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson said the likelihood of conviction on aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment charges was “very high” as was the probability of a lengthy sentence.

— Cody T. Watson, 21, of Mantua, for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest on Sept. 7 in Mantua.

— Horace J. Hawkins, 40, of Paulsboro, for theft in West Deptford on Dec. 1.

— Michael T. Trznadel, 29, of Blue Bell, Pa., for burglary, theft and criminal mischief in Glassboro on Oct. 20.

— Catherine N. Eisenhower, 50, of Elmer, for bad checks and theft on March 16, 2013; Dec. 12, 2012; and dates between Dec. 12, 2012 and July 4, 2014 in Deptford Township.

— Joseph Eisenhower, 63, of Upper Pittsgrove Township, for theft and three counts of bad checks on Dec. 12, 2012; Dec. 22, 2012; Dec. 24, 2012; and dates between Dec. 12, 2012 and July 4, 2014 in Deptford.

— Jennifer L. McGlinchey, 28, of Upper Pittsgrove, for bad checks on July 4 in Deptford.

— Robert C. Lafferty 3rd, 29, of Williamstown, for possession of CDS in Monroe Township on Sept. 21.

— Colleen M. Duca, 42, of Williamstown, for possession of CDS on Aug, 23 in Monroe.

— Sean R. Fuhrman, 30, of Gloucester City, for possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and possession of a weapon/ knife or club, in Monroe on Oct. 9.

— Jermaine C. Newell, 43, of Delair, for possession of CDS in West Deptford on Oct. 28.

WOODBURY — After Hearing Sean P. Allen, 41, of Woodbury, had made a full confession,  a judge Friday  denied him any reduction on three separate bails of $100,000 each on charges he used a sawed-off shotgun to rob three Heritage’s stores in the Woodbury area in February 2015.

“Apparently, the state’s proofs are quite substantial,”  said Superior Court Judge Kevin P. Smith, noting that Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Alec Gutierrez had also pointed out that Woodbury police recovered the shotgun and “a significant” amount of ammunition when arresting Allen at his residence on March 4.

Gutierrez opposed any bail reduction, saying Allen faced up to 30 years in prison on the Woodbury, Woodbury Heights and West Deptford robbery charges alone, making him a “significant flight risk.” Allen is also charged with weapons offenses and conspiracy to commit robbery with a  codefendant.

“In many respects, the defendant is lucky he’s not here on homicide charges,” said Smith. Using a firearm during a robbery “presents an incredible danger to the victim and bystanders,”  the judge said. “Any false step or misstep could have caused the gun to discharge.”

Even though Allen has a “minimal” criminal history, the total of $300,000 bail “is appropriate in my mind,” Smith said.
