PITMAN — At about 10 p.m. Oct, 1, officers responded to the area of the soccer field behind Memorial School for a reported robbery. The victims, an adult female and a juvenile male, told police they were approached by two males and one female, all possibly in their 20s, wearing ski masks. The males were described as being tall and skinny and the female reportedly had a heavy build and had red hair. The victims were held at knife point while the robbery took place. A backpack containing several personal items, including cash and a cell phone, was stolen. The robbers fled on foot toward West Holly Avenue.

CLAYTON — First responders in Gloucester County can undergo free Ebola Awareness training.

Offered by the county Department of Health and the Gloucester County Emergency Medical Services, the sessions will be held at the county Government Services Building auditorium in Clayton; sessions will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24; 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28; and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton was selected and sworn in as president of the County Prosecutors Association of New Jersey at the association’s annual convention last weekend.

Dalton succeeds Hunterton County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III for a one-year term as association president.

Gloucester County’s prosecutor since 2002, Dalton will lead the group made up of the state’s 21 county prosecutors.  

The organization works with Acting New Jersey Attorney General John Hoffman and Director of Criminal Justice Elie Honig. It focuses on enhancing the practices and procedures of the state’s prosecutor’s offices and law enforcement agencies. In addition, the association offers scholarships to students entering the fields of law and criminal justice.

WEST DEPTFORD TWP. — The annual Holiday Feast for Gloucester County seniors will be held in December, and tickets go on sale starting Monday, Oct. 27.

More than 1,800 seniors attend the event over the four days the feast is held, said Gloucester County Freeholder Adam Taliaferro, who serves as the board’s liaison with the Division of Senior Services.

WOODBURY — A 45-year-old Clayton man pleaded guilty Tuesday, Oct. 21 to a charge he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in 2013.

Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Margaret Cipparrone, in a negotiated plea, will recommend that Damon Bradley be sentenced to six years in New Jersey state prison and not be eligible for parole for 85 percent of the prison term.  

Bradley will also be subject to registration requirements of Megan’s Law for sex offenders and at least 15 years of supervision after release from prison.

Glassboro police will celebrate "Paws for the Cause" Friday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. ay South Delsea Drive Park.

This is a free K-9 event, but donations will be accepted for the Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, on behalf of Glassboro PD's Sgt. Bill Mc Cain, diagnosed with MS a few years ago.

The K-9 show will start at 8 p.m., but there will be face painting, food, fun and lots of other activities starting at 6.

A murder conviction that’s already been handed down twice was reaffirmed by a state appeals court Tuesday.

Thomas J. Campbell , 52, of Wilmington, Del.,  was found guilty in 2003 of fatally stabbing 45-year-old George S. Jackson II of Woodbury and critically wounding 37-year-old Kimberly Love, who Jackson had been visiting in West Deptford, on Jan. 11, 2000.

Campbell was sentenced to 30 years for murder and 20 years for attempted murder.

A Deptford Township woman stands to make a million bucks or more for coming up with a hot idea for Frtito-Lay, according to WISH-TV and the Associated Press.

Four different kinds of flavored potato chips went on sale in July, and customers have voted, via Facebook and Twitter, for their favorite.

There were cappuccino chips — some described them as “nasty” or “gross” — as well as mango salsa and cheddar bacon mac & cheese.

But the favorite flavor was wasabi ginger, the brainchild of Meneko Spigner McBeth, of Deptford, a registered nurse. She’ll be awarded either $1 million or a portion of the year in sales, whichever is greater.

The promotion, “Do Us A Flavor,” was held in other countries, as well. In Saudi Arabia, pizza was the winning flavor. In Serbia, number one was pickled cucumber chips.
